Audiences for my magazine;

My magazine is on Plantsbrook School, so students of Plantsbrook, teachers and parents may be the main audience for this magazine. Although there could be other people who may want to read this magazine such as parents who are considering Plantsbrook for their child.

Magazine Content;

In this magazine there would be initial information of the school such as maybe a map/layout of the school and recent Ofsted reviews, Then it would have recent exam results (GCSE and A-Level) followed by maybe statistics on exam results of Plantsbrook. Then there would be a section purely for parents, teachers and students about important dates such as parent evenings and teacher training days. Then a student section where teachers would put any important notices and information maybe when they are going to be absent or coursework deadlines. Finally we could have a special events section, where any charity events or trips would be mentioned.

Final Contents page

my completed contents page

On my finished contents page i have a bold Title saying 'Contents' and the magazine and my Masthead from my front cover. I have an Image that takes up a large amount of the page and Contact and Subscription above the image. My Background is the school logo and my Colour scheme  has stayed the same with white, black and red so as to be consistent.

Almost finished front cover

This is the now finished front cover, including the starburst

My finished Front cover has my Masthead saying 'PLANTBRK NEWS' and my Starburst just below. My Headline saying 'Result time' and then underneath this i have a Pull quote saying 'The best ever'. My House style is consistent being black, red and white making it recognizable to Plantsbrook with the school logo being these colours. I have a Banner at the bottom of the front cover pointing out some of the information that is going to be included. The Image takes us the whole page and is placed so as no text is covering either face. The Visual syntax for the front cover is flowing from the masthead down the left hand side the as they read the headline they will look down the right hand side down to the banner.

This is the almost fnished front cover, it doesnt yet have

Conventions of a contents page

The layout is that it is set out in columns (Usually 2 or 3) It has one main image relating to a feature article, along with other smaller images. (These images often have page numbers which anchor to the written contents) At the top of the contents page it will often have the name of the magazine and always the word 'Contents' or 'Contents page' and the issue date. Subscription and contact information  and sometimes an Editors letter in the top left hand corner. A contents page is usually only 1 or 2 pages no more, with a simple colour scheme (usually the same as the front cover) The contents is often divided into categories and headings. which are used to identify each category. Photography is credited for the front cover, and there are varied and interesting photographs. At the bottom there is usually the page number, magazine title issue date and often web address.
