Conventions of the Cover of a magazine

The Masthead being 'NME' in he top left hand corner, The first Headline is to the right of the masthead being 'READING, LEEDS' because it is the Reading edition, this text is slightly smaller, the second headline is slightly bigger than the Masthead which is strange, this says 'Big Guns' advertising some of the well known bands and artists that are performing at Reading. The only pull quote on this cover is overlapping the main image saying 'I was high and terrified, my life was collapsing' then there is smaller writing underneath which can be smaller because the big quote has already grabbed the readers attention. (this is also the Lure) The Puff is the 'Preview Special' telling us that this is a special issue of the magazine - the colour of this text is white which contrasts with the other colours of the magazine to make it stand out. (this can also be called the Pug/starbursts) The Layout, the magazine cover is very cluttered and not very well spread out, there is a lot of text, too much in my opinion. The House Style is that there is a yellow background, with red and black writing on it as these colours contrast with the yellow. The Straplines are the names of the bands and artists performing at Reading such as 'Nine inch nails' and 'Biffy Clyro', the only Banner I can see is a the very bottom saying 'And tons more' indicating to the reader that there are a lot more big bands and artists performing. The Use of colour is very bright and eye catching with the bold yellow as the background but the colours do not compliment each other, they do contrast, the fact that the photo is black and white helps it stand out from the rest.
